What's NaNo, you ask? Good question!
It's a month-long event where everyone who's ever wanted to write a book sits down to make that dream come true. For thirty days, you sweat, pound at the keyboard, and strive to reach 50,000 words (or 1,667 per day).
You don't have to be a serious writer to participate--in fact, this is kind of aimed at people who have long fantasized about writing that great novel that's lurking in the musty depths of their minds, but never found the time to do it.
So... NOW IS THE TIME! No excuses! :)
I know I have quite a few aspiring writer friends out there, so please join me in NaNo this year. We'll have a lot of fun. I'm a writing machine all year 'round, so I'll post occasional tips on how to write faster rough drafts here to help you guys get moving.
As for the "contest" itself, I will be participating, albeit informally -- I already have a book in progress, so I'm not starting on a new project for the month. But I'll make sure to update my daily word count anyway, just because I like seeing the slider move. I hope you'll add me as a friend. I'd love to see how y'all do.
