It's always so interesting to me when writers share their process, so here's a peek at the first page in rough draft and second draft form so you can get an idea of the kinds of changes I make as I work through it.

This one's a little unusual for me. I usually cut MUCH more out of each page. Since The Darkest Gate had already been written once or twice, I had a pretty good idea of where it was going, and there wasn't as much fat to trim.
There will be more changes--my editors are always harping on me to add more detail. I'll probably find a place to mention what the bistro looks like. You can probably tell that I'm very picky about detail from reading my other books, so this pains me. ;) I mean, gosh. How many different bistros can you imagine? It's a flippin' bistro. There are cloth napkins. Jeez.
When I get deeper into this, I might share a page with more drastic changes. But for now, I must return to the Bat Cave and edit. *cape twirl*
