The Ascension Series

Hey guys. :) It's been a long time since I updated this blog, but I continue to get a lot of hits on it from web searches, so I just wanted to let you guys know what I've been up to.

I finished The Descent Series this summer with book #7, Paradise Damned. It was an extremely difficult series to wrap up. It was the story of Elise versus Him - the Godslayer rising to meet her destiny - and writing it dredged up almost as much emotional junk for me as it did for the characters. It was really satisfying, though, and I knew immediately that I wasn't done with Elise and James yet.

That's how The Ascension Series came about. It's kind of like Season 2 of Elise's story (although it's a standalone, so you don't need to read Descent first). What's extra cool about it is that Ascension includes Rylie, Seth, Abel, and all of my favorite characters from The Cain Chronicles, too. Getting all of these characters mashed up together is a huge mess, in the very best way possible, and so far readers seem to enjoy it.

I'm going to be continuing with Ascension for probably seven books or so (I'm not sure yet, so don't hold me to that number). I've put deets on the first three below.

I hope you guys have all had a great year. Happy reading!

Sacrificed in Shadow

sis new Sometimes, you need a demon to fight demons. Lincoln Marshall is a small-town deputy with a very big problem. Six members of his church have been found dead, killed by a rogue werewolf. He’ll have to make a deal with the Devil to save victims that have gone missing — maybe literally. Elise Kavanagh, preternatural investigator and exorcist, is the expert when it comes to violent deaths at the jaws of evil. She’s also among the most powerful demons that Hell has spawned. Elise jumps at Lincoln’s case, and it’s not just because of his down-home charm. Someone’s laid a trap for her in Northgate, and she wants to find out who. She’ll have to team up with Rylie Gresham, Alpha of the last surviving werewolf pack, to figure out who’s trying to blame the murders on werewolves. Oaths of Blood

oob2 Werewolves are immune to every illness and can heal any wound. It should be impossible for one to become possessed by a demon. He has no choice but to deliver her to the only exorcist in America, Elise Kavanagh, who also happens to be a powerful demon known as the Godslayer. Ruled by Steel

rbs Elise Kavanagh failed to prevent the Breaking, and now Hell is spilling onto Earth. She’s delved deep into the City of Dis in an attempt to stop the infernal armies–but even the legendary Godslayer is unprepared to face Dis’s fiercest demons, not to mention the responsibility of liberating the humans they’ve enslaved. On Earth, rogue angel Nash Adamson is wing-deep in damage control after the Breaking, and his fellow angels don’t want to get involved. War is approaching the werewolf sanctuary. If Heaven won’t help them, he’ll have to turn to Hell for salvation. Everything hinges on who can control the City of Dis. New books! :)

In the last month or so, I've put out two new books. How, SM Reine? How could you do this?? The answer is, I wrote them at the same time last year, and a lot of caffeine was involved. ;) It wasn't pretty.

Anyhoo, Darkmoon is the end of The Cain Chronicles, and Of Wings and Wolves is the start of a new series tangential to Cain Chronicles. I hope you like them. I had a fun and crazy time writing them.

Now, I mentioned in the last post that my home base moving to a new home, and that's happening! You'll now find all my information over on SM Reine (yes, I named my site after myself). When life is a little bit quieter, I'm going to move the smreine.com domain over there, too. But for now, I am only going to continue updating that website, and this one will begin to collect dust. So move on over, y'all!

2012 in review

First things first! 2012 is going out with a bang bang, bangity bang.

Second things second, this blog is going away soon. Once I stop being lazy. I'll be moving to a static site more similar to those used by actual authors that will supply Actual Useful Information About My Books, but I'm feeling extremely "whatever, I haven't updated my existing site in months anyway, who cares." So... 2013 resolution??

Anyhoo, the blog is still here for the moment, so I thought I'd do a quick recap of books I published this year.

And those are only the books that I wrote personally. :) I also published books for some friends of mine, including editing, formatting, design, marketing, etc. So I've been a busy little beaver.

Yeah, so, that's pretty much why I haven't updated this site in so long.

I've just had an attack of the lazies just now, so I'll leave you with a tiny preview of the deluge to come in 2013. These covers/titles aren't final yet, so don't get too attached.

Have an awesome New Year. :)
